Highlighting Differences to Understand Disparities
Comparing the percentage of total persons across data sources by demographic characteristic can provide a broad measure of potential disparities in access to program services. Comparisons are made between four different sources of persons: (1) Persons in Full Service Partnerships (FSP), (2) Persons receiving publicly funded mental health services as reported in the Clients Services Information system (CSI), (3) Persons enrolled in Medi-Cal Aid Codes that are eligible for Specialty Mental Health Services (Medi-Cal), and (4) Department of Finance population estimates based on US Census data (CA Pop).
To build this dashboard MHSOAC collected data from each of these four sources using similar available demographic data points. The aim is to compare the makeup of persons receiving publicly funded mental health services to the relevant Medi-Cal population and the population of California in total. Comparisons are made statewide and by county.
