Approximately 100,000 adolescents and young adults experience first episode psychosis each year in the United States. Half of all mental illnesses begin by age 14, and 75 percent by age 24.
The Early Psychosis Intervention Plus (EPI Plus) Program is intended to help improve the lives of Californians with mental health needs before those needs escalate and become severe or disabling. The program establishes a framework and strategy to support collaborative efforts to shift emphasis in California’s mental health system to early detection and intervention.
